Day 22

We all lucked out with a free day when we turned a 7-hour drive to the Grand Canyon into a two hour one like described in yesterday’s journal. While Jed took this day to work on editing video, I took this day to introduce Kevin and Branic to some of my friends from Phoenix, while my friends would introduce us to the city. Stephen DaSilva and Justin Grisby, both Gallaudet students from the Phoenix area, drove to the campground to pick us up and drive us to Scottsdale, just out of Phoenix. In Scottsdale, we were going to swim and have a small cook out at another good friend of mine’s home, Paul Amann.

We all had a blast playing pool basketball in the pool, and the three Arizonians insisted on having a 3-on-3 game with the Phoenix natives verses the RoadTrippers. Kevin, Branic, and I scoffed at their challenge and were ready to take them on before they whipped our butts 21-9. Demanding a rematch, we regrouped and changed our game plan. (I don’t know if you think I’m going on and on about a stupid pool basketball game but, hey! A man’s pride is at stake here!)
