Day 35

The oil change light started blinking the other day, and Jed was really concerned about this. We would hate to ignore this light, drive another 15,000 miles and have it fall apart 50 miles from Omaha, 1,000 miles from anywhere else. We wanted to get it checked out as soon as we could, and today would be our best shot. As much as we hated to, we cancelled our plans for the day and put fixing the RV at the highest priority. As with our previous experience in trying to find a place to change the RV’s oil, we had a hard time finding a service center that could quickly fix our Fleetwood instead of having to drop it off overnight, which we definitely could not afford to do. We found a place that would change our oil and it took them a good four hours to do it, after telling us it would take just one. We had a blast playing with our Frisbee in the parking lot, running all over the parking lot and misfiring the disc countless times.

The repair took the entire day and we left with an empty feeling in our stomachs when it was 4:30 and we hadn’t done a single thing but wait in the parking lot of the repair center. We drove through Los Angeles and it was my first time seeing the city. The only thing that I can say about the city is that the air stinks and the smog is truly horrible. I had no desire to stop in the city and I am thankful that we cancelled our plans in L.A. to fix our RV.
