NSARA 2008 Conference
The National Association for State Relay Administration (NASRA) held their annual conference in Lowell, Massachusetts, just this past week of September 16-19, at the DoubleTree Riverfront Hotel.
NASRA, whose purpose is to:
• educate its members about regulatory standards and to advocate for regulatory changes when they seem to be in the interest of improved quality and efficiency of TRS;
• share information and develop ideal standards about TRS administration, to share cost-effective ideas and techniques to restrain or reduce the cost of TRS, and to promote ideas about community outreach;
• actively examine and advance discussion about issues pertaining to relay service and, when appropriate as determined by NASRA members, prepare items for membership review and submit advisory opinions about those issues;
held their conference to serve as a forum for State Relay administrators, as well as interested TRS/VRS companies, to join together in discussing issues within the TRS/VRS industry.
This conference also enabled telecommunication companies – such as Sprint, Viable, Sorenson, Hawk Relay, CSDVRS, and much more – to showcase their products and services.
The Conference, which only ran for three days, included updates from the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) and the National Exchange Carrier Association (NECA), discussion on TRS and emergency services, a panel on ten-digit numbering, information on CapTel and Web CapTel, and much more.
