RIT/NTID accepting entries for Art Contest and National Science Fair

The Rochester Institute of Technology is now accepting entries for its annual Digital Arts, Film and Animation Competition, for deaf and hard-of-hearing high school students. Last year, there were more than 80 entries for five categories. This year, there are six categories: Web Page Design, Graphic Media, 3-D Animation, Film, Interactive Media and Photo Imaging.

If you submit a winning entry, you will receive $250 and an all-expenses-paid trip to Rochester, N.Y. for the awards ceremony and an exhibition of your work. Students may submit up to two entries before the deadline of January 15, 2010. National Science Fair

RIT is also accepting entries for its annual National Science Fair. Open to deaf or hard-of-hearing students in grades 6-12. Each student can submit only one entry, and a maximum of three students can be team up together for a project. There will be two divisions: the Middle School division for grades 6-8 and the High School division for grades 9-12. You can submit an entry in any of the 11 categories: Chemistry, Earth Science, Electricity & Electronics, Engineering, Zoology, Mathematics & Computer Software, Medicine and Health, Physics & Astronomy, Botany, Social Sciences, and Environmental Science. Last year’s winning topics included “Global Warming,” and “Signing and Driving.”

Students must submit an entry form and a 250-word science project summary by January 15, 2010. RIT will then invite finalists from each division to exhibit their project at the National Science Fair in Rochester on March 26-28, 2010. Winners are eligible for cash prizes of up to $500.
