With a beautiful view of the golf course, I accepted that with a nice pub, great staff, and a fantastic breakfast buffet, our hotel was a much better way to start the day than my standard cup of Starbucks!

Today was the day we would finally play at the Old Course, which was constructed in 1865! The weather was much better than yesterday, and before we went to the first tee, we just had to stop by the British Golf Museum.

Today we were going to play at The New Course designed by Old Tom Morris in 1895. The new course was just the second course to be constructed at St. Andrews and was named “The New” simply because it was not “The Old.”

We woke up bright and early at the Atholl Palace Hotel with a beautiful view of the mountain and river at the base of the hotel.

It was a beautiful morning in Loch Ness, with the typical early morning fog settling over the Loch Ness lake, where one of the most famous monsters to never be discovered lives.

We caught the first ferry to Armdale at 8:10 in the morning, and it was just a 20-minute, seven mile trip across the water. Our error with the GPS ended up being a blessing…

I couldn’t even last a full day without Starbucks. I opened my day with my sorely needed Starbucks which was close to our tiny hotel, The Pypers’ Tryst. The hotel is well known as “the gathering place of pipers” and is adjacent to the National Piping Centre.

I’m looking forward to starting my 10-day tour of Scotland. As an avid golfer, I’ve always wanted to find an excuse to play at St. Andrews, so when I was contacted by BMI Airlines and encouraged to visit Scotland…
