Are elections all about just checking off a ballot? No! Elections are all about participating in the democratic process, and there’s so much more to do than just voting. Voter participation is a critical aspect of the country’s political life, and sometimes how you and your fellow citizens participate can directly contribute to presidents and laws winning. And sometimes it isn’t all about politics, but more about getting involved in the community around you. With that, here is a list of how you can participate in the process and come away a better person for it.
- You can choose to work directly for the campaigns. Usually doing so means doing tasks that may seem boring or repetitive to you, but actually plays a concrete role in keeping the campaign going. Such tasks will include going door-to-door to register voters or encourage them to vote, filling out envelopes with fundraising letters and the like, working the phone banks (there are likely accommodations for Deaf volunteers), and so on. You can also work at their regional or local headquarters, too.
- Sometimes you don’t need to work for the campaigns directly. Their websites will likely have a section where you can do some volunteering online, which may include getting your family, friends, and colleagues to either vote for the campaign or volunteer alongside you. You can host an event, make flyers, or something just that simple such as spreading the word. You can also do some fundraising, as well, and include your own funds.
- Outside of working for the campaigns, you can help with putting laws and other issues up for a vote. If there’s a cause you’re interested in and they have something on the ballot, ask how you can help it succeed. Usually that’ll be getting people to sign petitions, vote for the amendment or whatnot, and learn more about your cause. You can also donate some money, as well. For Deaf issues, you can work with NAD and other organizations, like DAWN.
- If you don’t want to get that political, you can help out your city or state government with the running of the electoral process. You could be a poll worker, and work at the voting station, processing the ballots and checking identification on Election Day. There are various committees set up for such activities, like a County Election Commission or County Voter Registration Board. Time will likely be spent registering voters or helping them understand what to do, and you may also be involved in helping send out absentee ballots and handling them when the ballots are sent back. There are likely other administrative duties vital to the electoral process.

As a Deaf writer and one who reads MANY books and THREE different newspapers everyday, I HONESTLY need to persuade as many people to vote for Obama Barack, he has so much support in the USA and WORLDWIDE and is the turning point for America to experience TRUE CHANGE.
People think he has Muslim connections, that he is somehow on the “MUSLIM SIDE” but NO, he is not! Having a relative of Muslim background does not make you a muslim or make you as a connection to the Muslim world.
There are good, honest and hardworking Muslims and there are the Islamic extremist fanatics. Same with Patriotic Americans, there are extremist militant groups lurking in the United States. We cannot escape terrorism but we can fight it and vote for leaders who will focus both on domestic issues and foreign matters, without bankrupting our country and leading us into a depression era. McCain has sided with President Bush, in fact, both Bushes, that goes back to THREE Presidential terms, we have had enough of McCain’s policies even though McCain “claims to have distanced himself from President Bush.”
Is Obama Barack fully distant from Bush’s policies? YES.
Then vote YES for Obama Barack. It does not matter if he is black, the most important thing is, he is a leader because he is leading in the polls against McCain, and when we have the entire country behind him and even internationally, that sends us a very strong signal that we must vote for Barack as President.
When Barack brought with him over 100 advisors on a recent trip to Europe and the Middle East, that shows that he is not ignorant but wants our country protected and that is by serving this nation’s best interests. About McCain? He is so highheaded on his own foreign policies that he has a much smaller entourage of advisors. McCain, if elected, would be one of the oldest US Presidents ever. McCain might be a POW, but he is too stubborn to have good interpersonal skills with other foreign dignitaries as opposed to Barack, who has great people skills. And Barack is not afraid to seek advice. He will be on the same page with everyone who wants to produce change in America.
Vote for Obama Barack and you won’t be sorry. Just remember he will inherit a trillion-plus deficit with the US budget. McCain will only make us poorer by investing more into the war machine, he will dip into our funds to support his cause.
For example, Mike Singletary, Assistant Head Coach of the 49ers was recently hired after head coach Mike Nolan was fired, and he only wants players who think of the team more than themselves. If the players play cohesively as an unit, and play as a team, they will win more games. That is why Singletary was hired as an interim coach so he could provide the turning point for the team and rally to their cause.
That is why we need for vote for Obama Barack, he is not in it for himself but for this patriotic country that needs some fiscal help and health care, among other domestic issues. He will focus more on domestic issues besides building our economy into a stronger, more stable one.
That is what we need. Not another operator of a war machine.

And while protecting this country, we need to go GREEN.
While we save this country, let’s save God’s green earth by going GREEN. Let’s save the animals, the trees, AND SAVE ENERGY.
Let’s go solar. Buy more Toyota Priuses. Climb trees and live in them while protesting against tree-cutters. Eat your veggies and better yet, go veggie. Watch the John Maucere show while chomping on your carrot, always find something to do while eating, that’s burning calories! Wish exercise videos were coming out…as we all can guess who will be the guy on the exercise dvd..biogradeable dvd videos.
Whoo! More to come…even let it become law for everyone to bring their own bags for groceries!!!
RESULT: Amazon Rainforests saved. Oxygen saved.
And a more lush, beautiful world.
That’s the best politics. Go GREEN.
